Remote Workforces: Where Do You Stand?

It’s amazing how hot topics come full circle. There was a time when the thought of employees working remotely was unheard of and if you suggested it you were nuts or thought to be smoking funny cigarettes. Then flex time, working from home and all manner of meeting the needs of a changing workforce that demanded other options emerged and was embraced…actually touted as differentiators to identify “best places to work”. Also contributing to this, was the growing global nature of commerce and the technology that allowed communication, trade and business to flow easily all over the world and align people to talk with each other and connect. You just had to make sure you put the link for The World Clock on your Favorites bar. This move also opened the door to something very important: Talent access. With borders dropped, organizations now had reach to talent in other countries. The pool expanded. It also gave new moms a way to stay connected to their jobs, company activity and take care of the family. Then men got in on the act as well. Soon, this just became another way that willing workers could get back into the workforce and/or stay in the game. It also opened an way of attracting and retaining needed expertise and talent that would have been inaccessible before.
